Woody's first day of Jr. Kindergarten

At first Woody was a little nervous about starting school. However, once we drove onto campus and he realized it was at our church he was good to go.

Woody started Junior Kindergarten. It is his first of many years at Apostles. We are so blessed to have a fantastic k1-8th grade school at our church.

Woody and his teacher Mrs. Crofts who is very good family friend got his backpack put away and his things all ready for the day.

The Sandbox

We are a particular family and do things 110% without cutting corners and so of course we had to have the "special" sand. Of course Bob did the research and found the factory that made this "special" sand. He then in-listed the help of my father, who of course was more than happy to hook up the trailer and haul the sand (thanks dad). Of course it would never have happened if not for my mom jumping in and helping too. We ended up getting 2 tons of sand - yeah remember the whole 110% thing. It's a pretty big sandbox and I must say it is nice sand - not your normal sandbox sand - like I said it is "special".

Woody helped transport the sand from the truck and trailer to the sandbox. This might have been one of the best days of summer.

There it is - our big sandbox in the backyard. We had to have it big enough to fit the large dump trucks the boys have. Again let me send your attention to the 110% thing - Ha Ha Ha!

It was a family affair. My dad and mom helped right along with Prescott and Woody. My job was to take pictures - HA yep got out of the manual labor part. But hey someone had to document the event so we could share it with you!

Camping at Lake San Antonio

We went camping with our Bible Study group. We have been a group for about 6 years now and always have a great time together. We decided this would be our first annual bible study camp trip. The Neven's have a boat so we went to Lake San Antonio. We got to go wake boarding and spend lots of time playing in the water. This was extra special for me because I did a lot of camping at this lake when I was young. My parents had a boat and we spent lots of time water skiing. It brought back so many wonderful memories of my childhood and teen years - thank you mom and dad - it worked!

Of course Prescott waisted no time in getting as dirty as possible. I kid you not the kid roles around in the dirt and rubs it on himself. Not really sure what he is thinking but it makes for some cute pictures.

This is our group of kids. There are actually 3 boys missing from the picture. One of the families could not make it. We have a large group of mostly boys - it makes for a wild time. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and great kids for our kids to play with.

Woody played all day in the lake. I'm not sure if he ever got out of the water. We got him a life jacket for the boat and he was ready to swim out to the middle of the lake - no I'm not kidding - several times I had to go get him and bring him back.

There is a Army base by the lake and on our way home we stopped by to check this cool tank. The base is a old tank shooting range and they have this retired tank sitting at the entrance. We could not pass up the opportunity to stop and let the boys check it out.

We built a huge dragon for the sandcaslte building contest. We had tons of fun building it.

Not sure what we would have done without my cousin Ryan and his artistic ability.

Saint Christopher's summer carnival

There is a large Catholic church a couple blocks from our house. Every summer they put on a huge carnival. We usually walk over and enjoy the rides, food and music. We all had a blast spending time with our neighbors and friends. It is one of those events where you run into all sorts of people you know. It is always a good time and we danced the night away.

Prescott had fun but was upset he could not go on the bigger, faster rides with his brother. We did everything that we could with him and he had fun.

We rode the train and a big ride called The Flyer. We went up very high and flew around. Woody loved it but mommy got a little sick. But getting a little ill was well worth it cause Woody had a blast.

After mommy got sick on the first ride daddy had to take over. Woody wanted to go on The Tornado. Again a very high spinning ride. Daddy got sick after that.

After both mommy and daddy were too sick to go on anymore rides we took Woody over to the games. That was a little more our speed and Woody had lots of fun collecting tickets from his wins.

Bob and the boys have been building a sandbox in the backyard. We are making our backyard a place for the kids to play and the parents to chill.

Of course both Woody and Prescott get in on the process and help daddy. It is lots of fun to sit back and watch them work together. I spend most my time watching and jumping in when things get unsafe - like when one of the kids picks up the pickax and starts swinging.

As it turns out there is NOTHING Bob can't do. He is always surprising me with his new abilities. Who new he would be so good at working with wood - first the fence now the sand box. I can't wait to see him lay pavers down and create a sitting area/patio next to the sandbox.

Done - now to get some sand.

Woody's Fourth Birthday Party

Woody's fourth birthday party rocked Bounceland. Before the party started, Bounceland was crowded with Christmas shppers. When Woody's posse arrived, the place literally quaked.

Notable attendees included Miss Anika Wilson, who Woody was thrilled to have. She demonstrated excellent jumping form and connected well with Woody's friends, especially Sierra who normally has to contend with lots of boys.

Mr. Prescott, aka "the bug", was in seventh heaven. When he wasn't mixing it up with the older kids on the bounce mat, he was slammin juice with his dad.

Woody, the star of the show, enjoyed riding the blow up horse. Here you see him taking a flying leap at its head and neck.

Thanks to all who attended the party. Woody and family had a great time. We hope everyone else did too!

Prescott had a great time hamming it up for the camera. All the facial expressions are on purpose. He does get mad and will make his pouty face when he is upset. But on this day he was just goofing off for mommy and the camera. He can turn the charm on and off like a switch. Prescott is full of personality it is so much fun.

Hawaii

We went to Hawaii in October to spread my Grandma Connie's ashes. We were there in April spreading my Grandpa Chucks ashes. Despite the sad reason for being there we had a great time. We did lots of things and I was able to share some of my childhood memories with my children. We swam at the pool, played at the beach, visited water falls, hiked to a crater, saw an active volcano, went out on a boat, played at a fancy resort and Bob and Prescott watch the Ironman triathlon. It was a fun filled and very active vacation. As you can see we wore the kids out. My mom says she has a couple of pictures of me and my brother passed out together just like this in hawaii. Good times. I hope you enjoy the pictures of our trip.

The volcano

We spent a day at the active volcano. We hiked through lava tubes (Woody's favorite) and hiked down to a crater. It was another great day filled with childhood memories. I feel so blessed to be able to share such a wonderful part of my childhood with my children. We always took a trip to the other side of the island when I was little. My dad use to pull over on the side of the road and pick us suger cane to chew on for the ride home. Most of the sugar cane fields are under lava now but the memories will last forever.

Akaka Falls

We visited Akaka Falls. I went there a lot when I was little and enjoyed showing my children the beautiful water fall. It was a fun hike filled with the wonderful aroma of fresh ginger. Of course we got rained on but then it would not have been a complete visit to Akaka falls if you don't get a little wet.

Beach fun

While in Hawaii we of course spent lots of time at the beach. The boys loved the beach. Woody enjoyed riding the waves on his boogie board. It was the first time we were able to push him on the waves and let him ride them in - he loved it. We were also able to ride the board in with Prescott who we think maybe enjoyed it even more than his brother. It was a great time had by all.

The hardest part about being on the beach was trying to keep Woody in his trunks. He spent most of the day running around totally naked.

We went to Tahoe for Labor Day weekend. We went swimming, went to the lake and had nerf gun wars in the forest. We had a good time and enjoyed watching the kids explore.

Nerf gun warfare was a highlight of the trip for all the boys.

We to visit my sister-in-law Kim and her husband Brad. They have to adorable little girls that I have completely fallen in love with. Kira is 4 and Gwen is only 3 weeks younger than Prescott. Kira and Woody are the best of friends and Gwen holds her own with Prescott. We had lots of fun and went to the beach, lego land and took the trolly car into Laguna Beach.

Kim was brave enough to pull some food out for the kids. They swarmed her like seagulls. I was a bit concerned for her at first but she is a very strong women and was able to fight them off.

Everyone was happy after some snacks - but Gwen - what is with the pout?

It did not take long for Prescott to fall in love with Aunt Kim - I mean seriously - what is not to love.

A special thanks to Aunt Kim and Uncle Brad for opening up their house to us. Your hospitality was wonderful and very appreciated. We had so much fun and can't wait to see you in November.

We went camping in Kings Canyon with Bob's sister Kim, her Husband Brad and there two adorable little girls. There was still some snow on the ground and the kids had fun playing in it. Of course we had a snow ball fight - as you can see I lost. But what are you going to do when Woody and Kira team up - nothing but admit defeat and duck and cover.

Yard Work

The kids have taken over flower watering duty. There was a small drip coming out of the hose and this is where prescott spent his time. He would put his hand under the drip and giggle. Then he would splash the water onto his face and belly laugh.

Woody of course took control of the hose and watered the flowers. He really is a hard worker and loves helping with the yard. Notice his muddy shoes and pants. Before we started watering Woody decided to make mud pies just like Little Bunny Foo Foo and bop them on his brothers head. Note the lack of clothing on Prescott. Prescotts clothes are laying in a muddy mess on the drive way.

Independence

Woody is just about potty trained - hooray! It is still more of an art than a science but things are coming along nicely. With potty training is coming a sense of independence which is not so easy for me. I can be a bit of a helicoptor mom. A helicoptor mom is a mom that "hovers" over their child making sure every need is met and all danger is avoided. With the help of my loving husband I am working on lifting off a little more and letting things be. Woody appreciates this of course and is learning to fend for himself more and more. One of the things I do to foster Woody's new found autonomy is allow him to choose his own outfits and dress himself. This has proven to be a bit more comical than stylish. Needless to say the challenge is all mine - it would seem I have an easier time letting him climb higher, ride his bike faster and jump off taller platforms than allow him to go out in one of his ensemble's. So, check out his newest fashion statement and yes that is the Wall Street Journal he is looking at. He is letting me know the picture on the front is WALL-E coming back to earth.

The older kids helped the dad's dig a huge hole. They made a tunnel that the Woody and Kira could crawl through. They also enjoyed jumping over the hole. It was a very fun day.

We went to visit Aunt Kim and Uncle Brad at Pajaro Dunes. We got to spend the day playing on the beach. Prescott and Gwen had lots of fun playing.

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. I just bombarded you all with a month worth of stuff. In fact I left some out just to minimize being too overwhelmed. We had a first birthday for Prescott. We had a "Where the Wild Things Are" theme. It was lots of fun. Not too long after that my Grandfather Chuck passed away. Prescott and I flew out to Hawaii with my parents for the funeral service. We went out on a boat and spread his ashes in the ocean. It was emotional for me because I loved my Grandfather very much. He is what I call a "classic". I miss him very much and although it was somewhat excpeted I can't seem to get over the sadness I feel in loosing him.

On a brighter note Prescott has taken his first steps. He can stand up by himself and take several steps. He is very proud of himself and I can tell he is looking forward to keeping up with his big brother. Speaking of his big brother - Woody is doing much better on the potty training front. He is starting to feel his pee pee and go to the bathroom by himself with out me prompting him. Poop is still a bit tricky but I feel condfident that will come soom.

Bob and I are doing well. We enjoy ours boys and have lots of fun family time. We are looking forward to a fun summer filled with trips and visits with family. Sorry it has been so long but better late than never. Enjoy the pictures and see you all soon.

Hawaii 2010 Beach day

Prescott has a new name - "Bug". I have been calling him this because he reminds me of a little bug as he scampers across the floor. But after watching him in the water it has taken on a whole new meaning. Prescott LOVES the water. He is fearless and charged right in as if he had been swimming all his life. He is now my little water "Bug".

We had a super fun beach day. Nothing like watching your one year old charge into the ocean like he could swim like Phelps.

OK - seriously - how can you not fall in love with this little guy.

The service

We spread Grandpa Chucks ashes in the ocean. One of my very best childhood friends Allie lives on Hawaii and her husband captains the Fair Winds boats. Allie and her husband help set up the service on the boat and Brion her husband captained the boat. It was comforting to have people close to us at the controls.

We all held it together pretty well on the boat. It was emotional but a beautiful fairwell.

I took my little Bug down to Kailua to show him the rock wall. Coming down and playing on the wall was one of my favorite things to do when we came to Hawaii when I was a child. It was very special for me to able to show Prescott a place that has so many wonderful memories.

Monster Truck

There are all the trucks!

We had great seats. We were right up front and could see all the pieces of trucks fly off.

This is mommy's favorite truck Max D. Woody and mommy watch this show on TV all the time so they now all the trucks. Mommy was almost as excited as Woody to see the show.

This truck was cool. It had smoke that would shoot out of the front so it looked like the bull was blowing steam. Very cool!

Monster Truck Jam

We went to the Monster Truck Jam last weekend. We had a lot of fun. Woody loved it and has not stopped talking about it. We had GREAT seats and were right infront of the action. There were lots of crashes and jumps. It was just good fun.

Prescott even loved it. He kept jumping up and down on our laps. He would flap his arms and bounce when the trucks raced. He had earmuffs like his brother but he would have nothing to do with them. The loud noise did not seem to bother him but Woody did not take offf his earmuffs until we were in the parking lot.

We went with our bible study and because there were a lot of us we got group tickets. With the group tickets we got pit party passes. That ment that we got to go down and get a close up look at the trucks before the show. Woody never took his eyes off the trucks. It was really cool to see the trucks up close. They are huge. The truck in the top picture is Madusa and was driven by a girl - she rocked. The truck below us was Time Flys and was from my home town - Watsonville. The two best trucks Maximum Destruction (mommy's favorite) and Grave Digger were also there but the crowd surrounding them was to big. What a awsome fun night!

Well, here we are - 10 months old. I put a 12 month sleeper on Prescott last night and it fit perfect. WOW - how fast they grow. It is so fun to watch little Prescott's personality develop. He is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Don't get me wrong he is very sweet and can be loving and snuggly but I highly recommend you don't get in his way. He will run you over, take you down and steal your heart all at once. He eats anything and everything and never take food away from him or you may end up loosing a finger. He has 8 teeth that have fully popped through and is getting his two fangs and will soon have 10 teeth. For this reason breast feeding has slowly ended. I am very sad because I wanted to breast feed for a year but my little imp bites. Get bit with 8 sharp teeth while breast feeding and you end up with a bloody mess. Not so much fun and way too stressfull. So, it is time to let go besides I think he likes formula and has started sleeping 12 hours a night. Yes, 12 hours a night. This means I have gotten 9-10 hours of sleep for the last several nights. It is amazing how much better you feel after getting some sleep. Sleep is good because Prescott crawls every where and is fast. He gets himself into more trouble and I am constantly pulling him away from dangerous situations. Fortunately for us all Woody is a great big brother and watches out too. There have been many times when Woody comes and gets me to inform me that Prescott is getting into the plants, garbage or the toilet. Yes, the toilet - this is because Prescott LOVES water. It is almost wierd how much Prescott is drawn to water. He even giggles and grins when we walk out into the rain. Bath time is lots of fun in our house - the brothers have a wild rumpus and everything and everyone gets soaked. But the brothers have fun and that is what we like to see. Yes, the brothers have lots of fun together. They seem to get along really well. Woody is so patient and lets Prescott climb all over him, pull his hair and try to bite his nose. Prescott is also very patient with Woody when Woody tackles him, takes him down to the floor and lays on top of him. It should be interesting to see where this game goes when Prescott is big enough to retaliate.

Prescott is pulling himself up on anything sturdy enough to old him and has started trying to walk around furniture. He gets into a "V" position and trys to stand up - he has not had any luck but sometimes in the bathtub with the help of the water he stands up. Another amazing thing I have noticed Prescott doing is mimicing sounds. I say "yeah" a lot and I hear Prescott making that same noise. There are lots of other noices he mimics too.

It should be fun to watch him continue to develop. He is very diffrent from his brother and adds a fun new dynamic to the family. If and when the brothers decided to team up I have a feeling they will be unstoppable.

Civil Engineer?

For Chirstmas I got some new trucks. One of my most favorite things to do is play tractors in the dirt. The other day while Prescott was sleeping I invited mommy to come play with me. Much to my surprise she is actually good at playing tractors - I mean for a mommy at least.

We dug a tunnel and made a bridge. We used old wooden planks mommy found next to the shed to make the bridge. My dump truck could drive under the bridge and the crane could drive over the bridge.

We made a big hill so we could drive the trucks over the pipe.

It was a very fun day indeed!

The next day we picked up where we left off and built a river. A civil engineer mommy is not but what she lacks in technical details she makes up for in imagination.

We even made a bridge so the dump trucks could get over the river.

Prescott tried to help but he just kept eating dirt. Mommy tells me I use to do the same thing when I was that age - I hardly believe I would waste such great dirt by eating it. Oh well - we had lots of fun.

Christmas Dinner

We were very lucky this year to get to spend Christmas with Anika. We all went to Granpa Mike and Grandma Diane's house.

Woody enjoyed a big hunk of meat. He made Grandpa Mike so proud.

Prescott Crawling

Prescott has been crawling for a couple of weeks now. He gets around and is fast. His favorite place seems to be the bathroom (he loves bath time). I have found him trying to climb into the toilet a couple of times. Woody helps me keep an eye on him and was right behind him lifeguarding at the toilet making sure he did not fall in while calling for mommy. What a great big brother.

Woody is funny about opening presents. It take a long time because he has take every toy out and play with it for 20 minutes. We have to remind him there are more to open.

My wonderful, loving, romantic and thoughfull husband took me away for a night at a nice spa/resort. We left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa and enjoyed some wonderful adult time with each other. We spent most of the evening sitting out on the patio having cocktails and talking. When a thunderstorm came through we were forced inside by the rain.

After a couple of cocktails we got brave and order the special. YIKES! However it was really good.

We were goofing off trying to take a picture of ourselves by ourselves. We had a really fun time.

The boys loved spending time at Grandma's house. She had lots of fun toys for them to play with. Looks like Prescott is going to take after his dad - a computer kid already.

We all enjoyed a nice hike down Sevino canyon. Woody did not like the tram ride up but he enjoyed the hike down.

Woody is funny about his hat. He had to have his hat on becuase Grandpa had a hat. But he also had to have it turned backyards. When you put his hat on the first thing he does is flip it backyards.

You never know

When you hear Prescott wake up in the monring you never know what you will find when you walk into his room. The first time I learned he could sit up on his own was when I walked in to find him sitting up. He had pushed himself from his tummy to sitting. Why I was surprised to walk in to his room this morning and find him standing in is crib I'm not sure. I am always amazed at Prescott's ability to charge forward and learn things independenlty from mom. Purhaps it is his older brother Woody who is doing the teaching. Whoever is teaching or however he is learning he continues to suprise me.

Almost crawling but mostly scooting

Prescott is almost crawling. When he gets on a soft carpet he does much better than the hardwood floor. He can scoot all over the place and is now just working on the technical parts of crawling.
